The lock, unlike some of the more modern locks of similar looks does not have screws securing the outside to the inside. On the inside, there is a cover plate that obviously is intended to be pried off. And it comes off without any problem. However, the rest of the knob prevents it from completely being removed to expose the rest of the mechanism. I can barely see behind this round cover plate, which is now loose but trapped between the door and the inside knob. How do I proceed to remove the lock? Answer Look on the neck of the inside knob on the left or right sides and there is a slit that you can poke a small blade screwdriver into. Poke it in and pull the knob off at the same time. Remove the beauty plate and there are the screws. Good luck, .
